Redshirted the season due to recovery and rehab from Tommy John surgery.

2006 Season

Appeared in 10 games with two starts, hitting .100 with a RBI and two runs scored... had game-winning RBI in 16-inning win against Texas State on Apr. 9... also pitched in 7 games and 9 innings with a 12.00 ERA. 

Before NSU

Played two seasons at Bossier Parish Community College compiling an 11-7 record on the mound... Was 6-3 while hitting .279 as a freshman... Drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 2004 Major League Baseball Draft... Carried a 3.32 grade point average... played for Elliot Sampley.  

High School

Lettered four years in baseball and three in football for Independence High School... Earned second team All-District honors as a freshman and first team honors his sophomore through senior seasons... Earned first team All-State honors as a senior... First team All-District in football his sophomore through senior years... Graduated in the top 10 in his class with a 3.8 grade point average... A member of the National Honor Society, FFA, 4-H and FBLA. 

Personal

Born July 21, 1985... parents are Johnnie Santangelo, Jr. and Cheryl Santangelo... two sisters, Julie (29) and Jennifer (25)... earned an associates degree in natural science from BPCC... grew up with former LSU and current Jacksonville Jaguar running back LaBrandon Toefield... majoring in natural science and will graduate this spring... nickname is “Little Man.”
