Summary

Biography

Marilyn Gates will be counted upon heavily once again this season, just as she was in 1980-81. The 5'11" senior forward has led the Lady Demons in rebounding for the past two seasons, and is expected to carry most of the board work again.

"Marilyn is strong," coach Pat Pierson stated. "And she has a very soft shooting touch for someone her size and strength." Gates not only topped NSU in rebounding with her 7.7 average per game, but she also finished third in the scoring race with a 10.0 average.

In her high school career at Benton, Gates was a four-time All-District selection, and, to top off her four years, was named Most Valuable District Player in addition to being selected to the All-State Team.

Gates is a social work major, whose predictable immediate goal is to graduate from college.
