28 PRs for NSU track and field athletes at the Leon Johnson NSU Invitational

NATCHITOCHES- The Northwestern State track and field team set 28 personal bests at the Leon Johnson NSU Invitational Saturday, the bulk of them coming from the jumps, sprints, and distance events, and the rest from throws.
 
The jumpers had nine PRs, the sprinters had seven, distance runners had six, and four came from the throwers.
 
Among the jumpers, personal best marks came from JaCorious Jeter, fourth in the men's long jump (24-5), Keidrick Haynes, sixth (23-9), Ceaser Stephens, seventh (23-7 ½), Markeit Steverson nnth (23- ½), and Quindarrius Thompson 11th (22-5).
 
In the women's long jump, Fabriana Nation was fourth (18-10 ¾) and Brooke Petkovich fifth (18-9 ¾), both with PRs.
 
Reagan Darbonne won the women's pole vault with a 12-1 ½ clearance as she broke the 12-year-old school record set by Dr. Haley Blount Taitano. Darbonne's mark is sixth in the Southland Conference. Landon Dore placed fifth in the pole vault 14-1 ¼.
 
In the sprints, Tre'Darius Carr ran a personal best time of 10.40 in the men's 100. His time is seventh in the Southland Conference and 48th in the East Region. Carr also ran the lead leg in the 4x100 relay that placed first in the event (39.87, not a team best). Jared Price ran a PR in the men's 200 (23.59).
 
Deja Moore was second in the 100 (11.80) with a PR that is fifth in the Southland. Jasmine Hall came in sixth in the 200 (24.87), Widline Lageroy finished seventh (24.96) and Kylie Nodorft was ninth (25.61).
 
In the women's 400, Courtney Willis came in third (56.16) and Diana Granados finished fourth (56.60) with another pair of PRs.
 
In the distance events, freshman Adam Courville dropped his time from 2:00.73 last week to 1:59.57 Saturday as he placed third in the event. In the 1500, Brandon Lewis-Graham came in fifth (4:07.83). Freshman Jasmine Dansby cut five seconds off her PR to finish second in the women's 800 (2:17.86) and fellow freshman Sasha Ballard shaved three seconds off her previous best to finish fifth 2:23.52 in the event.
 
Jacqueline Rushford dropped her PR in the 5000 by 50 seconds and won the event (18:41.84). Rushford has run a PR for the third consecutive week. She PRed two weeks ago in the 3000 meters, then dropped her time in the 3000 steeplechase by 12 seconds last week.
 
Cedric Paul competed in three events: winning his specialty event, the shot put, while recording a PR in the hammer (158-3) and in the discus (155-4). 
 
Collin Milton improved by 14 feet in the men's javelin (209-6) and won the event by a big margin. Milton is now second in the Southland and 41st in the NCAA East Region.

With PR marks, Kristin McDuffie placed third in the women's discus (143-2) and finished 11th in the hammer. LeAndrea Allison was seventh in the discus (125-4).
 
A mid-distance runner who normally runs the 800, Jessica Coleman ran the 400 for the first time and placed eighth (58.92).
 
Nodorft made her first appearance in the 4x100 relay that finished second (47.28).
 
Freshman Atianna Parks ran the 1500 rather than the usual 800 and came in fourth (5:50.26).
 
Junior jumper Keidrick Haynes competed in the triple for the first time in his collegiate career and placed fifth (44-1 ½).
 
The Southland Outdoors run Friday through Sunday next weekend in San Antonio, hosted by Incarnate Word.
