THIBODAUX – Despite undesirable results in the first three Southland Conference matches of the year for the Northwestern State tennis team, the team finds itself trending toward success.
NSU (1-3, 0-3) aims to bounce back from its second one-point loss in seven days and earn its first conference win of the season at Nicholls (2-6, 0-3) on Sunday.
"We are looking forward to another test on the road tomorrow at Nicholls," said head coach Jonas Brobeck. "We need to continue to get better with each match we play, and I know the girls cannot wait to improve from Friday's match."
Both 3-4 losses to Lamar and New Orleans have fallen to a final tiebreaker set in the final match of singles play.
Emilija Dancetovic continues to compile wins for the Lady Demons, having won 3 of her last four singles matches and her only loss coming at the hands of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Her and Dorota Szczygielska currently remain undefeated in doubles competition.
The Lady Demons have dominated the series against Nicholls of late, having won the last six consecutive matches between the two programs. NSU enters the match sporting a convincing 29-9 overall record against the Colonels.
Following its competition with Nicholls on Sunday, NSU will be returning home for a three-match homestand against Southeastern Louisiana, McNeese, and a rescheduled midweek bout with Louisiana-Monroe.
