HUNTSVILLE, Texas – It seems as though the week off has paid dividends for the Northwestern State tennis team.
For the second straight day, the Lady Demons went unbeaten in action at the Bearkat Invitational, hosted by Sam Houston.
After a perfect day in doubles Friday, Northwestern swept its two singles matches Saturday.
"The girls competed well in singles," fourth-year head coach
Marcos Morelli said. "They were able to apply the things they have been working on the last couple of weeks."
Freshman
Nico Tagami and sophomore
Athina Grigoriadou were the lone Lady Demons competing in the doubles draw, and both emerged victorious.
Tagami defeated Lamar's Varvara Popadina, 6-3, 6-1, while Grigoriadou downed Sam Houston's Sara Khamitova by the same score.
The tournament concludes with singles and doubles play Sunday.
"We're excited about one more day of good competition," Morelli said.
