2009 Season:  ALL-AMERICAN, ALL-LOUISIANA... Eighth at the NCAA Championships in Fayetteville, Ark.,  with a 225-1 best mark despite a toe injury ... Became the only four-time NCAA Outdoor All-American in school history ... Until the toe injury prior to the NCAA Mideast Regionals, had not thrown under 233-0 in five straight competitions as a senior ... Won his second Southland Conference Championship May 8 by 23 feet with a 235-10 throw while missing commencement exercises back at NSU ... Uncorked PR of 239-10 on his final throw at home April 25 at the NSU Invitational, breaking a meet record that had stood since 1983 ... That performance earned him SLC Athlete of the Week honors ...  Second at Texas Relays with a 235-1 throw ... 14th at USA Outdoors in Eugene, Ore., with a 214-4 best to end his collegiate career ... SLC Academic Honor Roll ... NSU’s Male Student-Athlete of the Month for June.

2008 Season: Redshirted

2007 Season:  ALL-AMERICAN, ALL-LOUISIANA... Fourth at the NCAA Championships in Sacramento with a 230-5 best mark ... Fourth was the best showing by an NSU competitor at the NCAA Outdoor Championships since future Olympian LaMark Carter was fourth in the triple jump in 1994 ... Became the 10th three-time All-American in NSU track and field history ... Topped four Louisiana competitors in the 12-man final ... Won the SLC Championship with a toss of 237-01... ranked second in the SLC with a PR of 237-02 at Arkansas, a throw that at the time ranked third nationally ... Earned SLC Athlete of the Week award for that win ... NSU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee member.

2006 Season:  ALL-AMERICAN, ALL-LOUISIANA... Ninth at NCAA Championships in Sacramento with a  216-6 best throw ... had a 223-9 toss in qualifying two days earlier ... Ranked among top 8 American-born finishers ... Took first place at Ole Miss Dual Meets, UTA Bobby Lane Invitational, Texas Relays, LSU Alumni Gold, and Ty Terrell Relays ...  Won Texas Relays with a personal best 230-9 ... Finished third at the SLC Outdoor Championships... placed 17th at the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.


2005 Season:  ALL-AMERICAN... Became first freshman to win NCAA Division I All-America honors in coach Leon Johnson’s 23 seasons as the Demons’ head coach ... finished 10th in Sacramento with a 214-5 throw, and was among the top 8 American-born finishers, earning All-America honors from the coaches’ association ...  Runner up at SLC Championships...regional and NCAA qualifier with his 218-0 PR ...  placed second at USA Junior Nationals by extending his PR to 218-4 ...qualified for USA Junior Pan Am Games Team in Ontario, Canada, where he finished fourth at 208-7 3/4.

High School:  State and regional champion in javelin his sophomore and junior seasons ... three-time district champion in javelin ... had longest javelin throw in nation for freshman in 2001 ... broke Bobby Hebert’s single season passing record junior season ... broke school’s career passing record ... part of four district champion track teams ... lettered four years in track, three years in football, and two years in basketball.


Personal:  Only son of Lance and Tori Fillinich ... father is a supervisor and mother is a secretary ... has two sisters, Katy and Chloe ... graduated with honors  in business administration, May 2009.
