Coach Dan Bell on Fleming: "Earl is much improved over last year - seems to be more relaxed, seems to be fitting in much better. As his physical strength comes along, he will help us more and more down the road."

In 1989-90: After being considered for a redshirt year, Fleming wound up playing in 18 games and scoring 16 points while averaging 5 minutes per game. He had a high game of 4 points vs. Sam Houston State and got 2 rebounds twice, vs. North Texas and Nicholls State.

At Hillcrest HS: Averaged 19 points, 13 rebounds, two blocked shots and made 89 percent of his free throws as a senior, leading the team to a 23-5 record and its third straight area championship. Hillcrest was ranked No. 1 for part of the season in Class 5A and reached the state quarterfinals. He was MVP in a Christmas tournament and made the Super 5 Team. Fleming averaged 17 points and 8 rebounds as a junior, leading the team in free throw percentage and rebounds, and was twice a tournament MVP along with making the 5A All-Star team. He averaged 10 ppg as a freshman and sophomore and helped Hillcrest to a four-year record of 72-32.

Personal: Marvin Earl Fleming is te son of Mr. and Mr.s Marvin H. Fleming and has one younger brother, Eric. His father is an electrician and his mom is a secretary. A computer information systems major, Fleming has a 2.75 gpa.
