2021 Outdoor Season: Competed in the U.S. Olympic Trials and NCAA Championships in the long jump to cap final season … HM All-American status with a 22
nd-place finish at NCAAs … won her first SLC Outdoor long jump title with a 21-4.25 … added a silver in the triple jump with a personal best 42-7.5, which ranks second all-time at NSU … claimed sixth in the high jump … in the long jump, logged five meets of 21 feet or better with two season bests of 21-5.25 … owns the second-best long jump and triple jump marks in Louisiana … five top-five finishes include wins at SLC, Texas A&M Alumni Muster and LSU Boots Garland … in the triple jump, finished 39
th at NCAA East Prelims … three top-five showings in the triple jump … in the high jump, four top-five finishes include a win at the Ice Breaker Classic.

2020 Outdoor Season: Canceled due to Covid-19 pandemic.
2020 Indoor Season: Competed in her primary events of the long and triple jump with one appearance in the 60 meter dash ... placed in the top three in every meet in her signature event the long jump winning the event four times in five meets ... recorded her season-best jump of 21-2 at the Houston G5-Super 22 Invitational, winning the event, and qualifying for the NCAA National Championships with the seventh best mark of the season ... added a conference championship with a jump of 20-5.75 at the Southland Conference Championship ... named the Southland Conference Indoor Field Events Performer of the Year ... added an All-Louisiana First Team nod in the long jump, posting the best mark in the state ... took the top spot at the Texas A&M Invitational (20-7.25) and Ted Nelson Invitational (20-10.75) ... placed third at the Tyson Invitational with a jump of 21-1.5 ... set a new career best in the triple jump at the SLC Championship and took a silver with a mark of 41-5.25 ... finished fifth at the Houston G5-Super 22 Invitational (40-11.5) and seventh at the Tyson Invitational (40-8.75) in her only two scored meets outside of the conference meet ... only two competition in the high jump came at the LSU Purple Tiger where she set a career best with a 5-6.5 clearance and the SLC meet where she placed fifth clearing 5-5 ... ran the 60 in one meet at the LSU Purple Tiger posting a time of 7.95 in the prelims ... earned her third Southland Conference All-Academic nod.
2019 Outdoor Season: Competed in the long jump and the triple jump… NCAA National Runner-Up with a personal best jump of 6.71 m… placed second in the long jump at the NCAA East Regional (6.22 m), the Southland Conference Championship (6.41 m), and the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays (6.52 m)… placed third in the triple jump at the Southland Conference Championship with a personal best jump of 12.81 m and first at the SFA Carl Knight Invitational (12.22 m).
2019 Indoor Season: Competed in the 60 meters, the high jump, the long jump, and the triple jump… won an NCAA National Championship in the long jump with a personal best jump of 6.46 m…. placed second in the long jump at the Southland Conference Championship (6.21 m) and first at the LSU Bayou Bengal (6.28 m), the Tyson Invitational (6.33 m),the Sooner Challenge (6.21 m), and the Ted Johnson Invitational (6.19 m)… placed second in the triple jump at the Southland Conference Championship with a personal best jump of 12.46.
2018 Outdoor Season: Primary competition occurred in the long and triple jumps but made one appearance in the 100 meter dash…had six total top-five finishes in the long jump during the season leading up the to the NCAA East Preliminary…won both the SFA Skecher’s Performance Carl Kight Invitational (19-1 ½) and McNeese Last Chance (20-7 ¾ +2.1) meets…took a bronze at both the ULM Warhawk Invitational (18-4 ½) and the SLC Outdoor Championships (20-0 ½)…placed fourth at the TCU Invitational (18-10) and Texas State Bobcat Invitational (19-1 ¼)…posted a jump of 19-1 ½ at the NCAA East Preliminary finishing 33
rd overall…earned two results in the triple jump in four meet competition with her best mark coming in the SLC Outdoor Championships (39-5 ¾)…took home a fourth place finish at the ULM Warhawk Invitational (36-9 ¾)…ran the 100 meter dash once during the season at the MSU Cowboy Relays/Bob Hayes La. Challenge with a time of 12.28 finishing 15
th overall
2018 Indoor Season: Competed primarily in the long and triple jump events but ran the 60 meter dash at one meet on the season…earned four top-five finishes in all four meets competing in the long jump…took the top spot in the first two meets of the season setting a meet record at the TAMU Ted Nelson Invitational with a jump of 19-9 ½ (6.03m), setting a new career best, and a mark of 19-6 ¾ (5.96m) at the Pittsburg State Invitational…finished second at the UA Tyson Invitational (19-8 ¾) and fourth at the SLC Indoor Championships (19-5 ¼)…earned three results in the triple jump with three more top-five finishes…took second at the LSU Bayou Bengal with a mark of 39-4 ½ (12.00m) with her season best coming in the SLC Indoor Championships of 39-7 ¾ taking fourth in the meet…finished fifth at the UA Tyson Invitational with a distance of 38-9…ran the 60 meter dash at the Pittsburg State Invitational with time of 7.84 and 7.81 in the qualifying and prelims respectively
2017 Outdoor Season: Competed in seven meets in the 100, long jump and triple jump… brought home the bronze medal at the SLC Outdoor Championships after her performance in the long jump (19-4 3/4)… also placed ninth in the triple jump (38-6) at the conference meet… achieved nine top-five results including three wins, the long jump (18-10) and triple jump (39-2 1/2) at the McNeese Cowboy Relays and the long jump (19-9 1/2) at the TCU Invitational which was also an updated personal record and a team season-best… improved her personal record in the triple jump (39-3 1/2) at the LSU Alumni Gold where she placed second.
2017 Indoor Season: Competed in five meets in the 200, high jump, long jump and triple jump… placed sixth at the SLC Indoor Championships in the triple jump (39-7), seventh in the long jump (18-10) and 14
th in the high jump (5-2 1/4) for a personal-record measurement… had five top-five results with three wins including, the long jump (19-2 3/4) and triple jump (39-9 3/4) at the Pittsburg State Gorilla Classic and the long jump (17-5 1/2) at the UAB Vulcan Invite for a team season-best... wins also allowed personal-record improvement in her triple jump (39-9
3/4) and long jump (17-5 1/2)… additionally improved her personal record in the 200 at the LSU Purple Tiger where she placed 17
th (27.10).
High School: A 2016 graduate of the A&M Consolidated High School … participated in track, basketball and softball ... a seven-time state meet qualifier, Steels was a top-25 national performer in the long jump (19-8, No. 24) and triple jump (39-11, No. 22).
Personal: Daughter of Jessica and Danial Steels … born on Dec. 10, 1997 … has three siblings … two brothers, Danial Ray Steels Jr. and Jaycob Philip Steels … one sister … Alexya Jayde Steels … majoring in psychology with the desire to earn a graduate degree and potentially a doctorate in psychology.
