Lady Demons open five-match homestand against LSU Shreveport

NATCHITOCHES — The Northwestern State Lady Demons return home Sunday to host LSU-Shreveport at the Jack Fisher Tennis Complex, with doubles play scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.

NSU (2–2) enters the matchup looking to bounce back after a 6–1 road loss at North Texas last Sunday morning in Denton.

The Mean Green secured the doubles point and controlled the top of the singles lineup, but the Lady Demons found a bright spot in freshman Martina Acebedo Bonocore, who claimed NSU's lone point with a three-set victory capped by a decisive super tiebreak — her second straight tiebreak win of the young season.

After dropping her collegiate debut against LSU, Acebedo has responded with three consecutive victories, improving to 3–1 on the season.

Pika Doberlet and Maria Farina have also contributed to early success, each posting a 2–1 record so far this spring.

Sunday's contest marks the start of a five-match homestand for the Lady Demons, a sharp contrast from last season when NSU opened the 2025 spring schedule with just two home matches before conference play began.

LSUS (1–1) enters the match coming off a 5–2 loss to LSU-Alexandria.

Despite securing the doubles point, the Pilots recorded only one singles victory in the match and ultimately fell to their in-state rival.
