NATCHITOCHES — The Northwestern State Lady Demons return to the courts Friday afternoon as they host Tyler Junior College at the Jack Fisher Tennis Complex, with doubles play set to begin at 1 p.m.
NSU (3-2) enters the matchup riding momentum from a commanding 7–0 sweep over LSU-Shreveport in its last outing.
The Lady Demons controlled that match from the outset, claiming the doubles point before surrendering just five total games in completed singles contests.
Head coach
Marcos Morelli said the focus heading into Friday remains consistent.
"We want to continue with our process in both singles and doubles," Morelli said. "It's about building on what we've been working on and staying disciplined in how we compete."
Doubles have been a key emphasis throughout the season, and Morelli believes it continues to set the tone for the rest of the match.
"As a team, we need to continue making steps forward," he said. "We have to become tougher with each match we play."
In the sweep over LSUS, NSU demonstrated depth across the lineup, including strong performances from newcomers
Athina Grigoriadou and
Martina Acebedo Bonocore, who have made immediate impacts early in the spring campaign.
Morelli credited the freshmen for bringing added edge to the roster.
"The newcomers have added grit and energy to the team," he said.
As the Lady Demons prepare for Friday's contest, the message remains simple: compete fully and embrace the challenge.
"I want to see them focus on competing and enjoying the tough moments," Morelli said.
