NATCHITOCHES – The Northwestern State tennis team heads back into Southland Conference play when it hosts McNeese on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Jack Fisher Tennis Complex.

The Lady Demons (7-6, 6-0) aim to build on their recent momentum, having secured victories in seven of their last eight matches.

In their most recent matchup, the Lady Demons traveled to Shreveport, taking down the Pilots in a 5-2 match.

The pairing of Pika Doberlet and Tjasa Klevisar looks like the duo of the season, boosting the pairings' record to 7-3 in the season after beating their opponents 6-2.

Klevisar secured the second point for the Lady Demons, rolling 6-1, 6-3.

The final three matches for the Lady Demons could have gone either way, as the Pilots kept the matches close, with the deciding points coming down to a third set.

Honoka Umeda and Doberlet fought in thrilling matches. Both dropped the first set but bounced back to win their matches.

Ayu Ishibashi showed her experience and skills by beating LSUS's Perez in a straight two-set victory 6-3, 6-2.

McNeese (18-4, 5-2) is riding its high horses, coming to Jack Fisher on a five-match win streak, most recently beating New Orleans 6-1.

"McNeese has been having an impressive season," says head coach Marcos Morelli. "We know it's going to be a hard-fought matchup. We're preparing for a real battle."

Following this match, the Lady Demons will celebrate seniors Klevisar and Ishibashi on a Senior Day match on Monday as Southeastern comes to town. NSU ends the season traveling to Nacogdoches, Texas to face Stephen F. Austin, which could decide who wins the conference.
