RUSTON – The Northwestern State tennis team faced a tough challenge on the road, losing 4-0 to Louisiana Tech at the LA Tech Tennis Complex.

Despite a determined effort, the Lady Demons (0-5) could not capture their first win of the season, as the Lady Bulldogs secured the victory with dominant performances in both doubles and singles play.

In doubles action, Louisiana Tech quickly set the tone by winning two of the three matches.

Ana Rodrigues and Zoie Epps defeated NSU's Pika Doberlet and Tjasa Klevisar, 6-2, in the No. 1 doubles spot, while Alice Brook and Maria Tsironi took down Ayu Ishibashi and Honoka Umeda, 6-3 at No. 2.

The No. 3 doubles match featuring Mio Kozaki and Nina Skoric (LA Tech) against Sofi Garcia and Zoi Spyrou (NSU) was left unfinished at 5-5.

Louisiana Tech carried its momentum into singles play, clinching the match with three straight-set victories.

In the No. 2 spot, LA Tech's Epps dominated her matchup against Spyrou, 6-1, 6-0.

The Bulldogs' Nina Skoric defeated Doberlet, 6-1, 6-3, to win the No. 4 spot.

Ana Rodrigues sealed the win for LA Tech with a 6-4, 6-2, victory over Umeda in the No.1 spot.

When the match was called, three singles matches remained unfinished.

Klevisar was battling Maria Tsironi in the No. 3 spot, taking the lead 6-3, 3-3. Garcia trailed Kozaki 6-1, 5-1 at the No. 5 spot, and Ishibashi was locked in a tight second set against Brook after a 6-1 first set, tied 5-5 in the second in the No. 6 spot.

The Lady Demons aim to bounce back in Shreveport on Sunday when they take on LSU-Shreveport at noon.
