RUSTON – After an unexpected delay due to inclement weather, the Northwestern State women's tennis team returns to the court for a two-match road trip, starting with Louisiana Tech on Saturday and heading to LSU-Shreveport on Sunday.

The Lady Demons (0-4) were scheduled to play ULM this past Thursday, but due to severe weather conditions, the match was postponed. With additional rest and preparation, NSU aims to focus its energy on this weekend's series of in-state competitions.

"We want to be more consistent in singles play," second-year head coach Marcos Morelli said.

NSU kicks off its road trip with a match against Louisiana Tech (8-2) in Ruston. The Bulldogs have proven to be a thorn in the Lady Demons' side in recent years, getting the better of NSU in each of the last two matchups.

NSU relies on strong performances from standout players like Ayu Ishibashi, who won their first singles match in the early stages of the season.

Doubles play has also shined brightly, with the pairings of Ishibashi and Honoka Umeda and the play of Pika Doberlet and Zoi Spyrou, both securing wins in their last contest.

"The process in doubles was good from start to finish," says Morelli. "We have to keep building on that."

After facing Louisiana Tech, the Lady Demons continues their journey across Louisiana with a match against LSU-Shreveport. As a solid NAIA program, the Pilots presents NSU with another competitive challenge as they prepare for conference play.

With two big matches ahead, the Lady Demons are eager to return to action and fight for their first win of the season.

Following this road trip, the Demons enter conference play, traveling to the Big Easy to face New Orleans on March 1. On March 3, NSU picks up its bags and heads to Nicholls in Thibodeaux.
