Lady Demons end the regular season at home against Corpus Christi

NATCHITOCHES – With the Southland Conference Tournament in view, the Northwestern State tennis team will host Texas A&M – Corpus Christi at 11 a.m. on Saturday for the last match of the regular season. 

The contest is a re-scheduled match after the original one was postponed. 

NSU (10-7, 3-3) is in fifth place, while AMCC (19-2, 6-0) clinched another regular season title and the top seed in the SLC Tournament. 

Sofi Garcia continues to dominate on the court for the Lady Demons, having won her last eight matches. 

Garcia, sophomore from Argentina, had a12-4 record on the season and 6-0 in conference play. 

Honoka Umeda has also shown her skills on the court with an 11-2 singles record. 

Corpus Christi is led by senior Emma Aucagne. 

Aucagne has put up a 17-4 singles record on the season, playing primarily in the No. 1 slot. 

The Islanders lead the overall series with the Lady Demons 15-12. 

Following the match, the Lady Demons head to San Antino for the SLC Tournament, beginning Thursday. The top eight teams make the tournament field.
