Wise honored as NSU host Central Arkansas

NATCHITOCHES – As Northwestern State tennis team nears a return Southland Conference play, they are set to honor its lone senior, Paige Wise

NSU (7-3, 1-0 SLC) faces Central Arkansas (5-6) on Saturday at 10 a.m. 

During the 2023 season, Wise put up a 10-6 record in singles in the No. 3 rotation spot. With that mark, she was selected to be on All-SLC First-Team singles at that0 spot in the rotation. 

This season, she has played at or near the top of the singles rotation. 

Wise joined the Lady Demons in the fall of 2022 after transferring from Francis Marion University, where she had an undefeated freshman year. 

At Francis Marion, she received conference player of the year and southeast region rookie of the year. 

In the overall series, the Lady Demons hold a 12-6 record on UCA in the series, as the two used to be SLC foes. 

The last time the two teams met, the Bears came away with a 5-2 win at home in 2021. 

UCA, which is coming off a 4-0 win against Lane College, is led by sophomore Vichitraporn Vimuktananda. She has posted a 6-3 record in singles at No. 1 on the season so far. 

NSU will be back on the courts Sunday at 11 a.m. as it hosts Stephen F. Austin.
