BEAUMONT, Texas – After almost two weeks of no matches due to weather, the Northwestern State tennis team heads to Lamar to begin a string of five consecutive Southland Conference matches on the road.
The Lady Demons (8-4, 1-0) are coming off a 4-0 sweep against former SLC rival Stephen F. Austin.
Ayu Ishibashi has continued to be a dominant presence this season, compiling an 8-2 singles record.
In her first season as a Lady Demon, Honoka Umeda has an 8-0 singles record as well as a 5-4 doubles record.
Lamar (7-7, 0-2) heads into the match with the Lady Demons after falling in their last two matches, including a loss against UT Rio Grande Valley, 4-2.
The Cardinals are led by freshman Nouray Metwally. Metwally has compiled a 3-2 record in singles and 2-1 doubles record on the season.
The series between the teams has been close with NSU holding a 23-16 advantage thanks to wins in the past two meetings. The Lady Demons' 5-2 victory against the Cardinals in 2022 started a two-match win streak.
