NATCHITOCHES – After having the first contest of the week rescheduled due to weather, Northwestern State tennis aims to bounce back from a loss last time out, as it set to host in-state rival Nicholls.
The Lady Demons (9-8, 1-3 SLC) try to make it nine in a row against Nicholls on Saturday at noon at the Jack Fisher Tennis Complex.
Tjasa Klevisar enters the match following a three-set victory at the No. 1 singles position against McNeese, and has won two singles matches in a row. The sophomore has a 12-4 record in singles, including 9-2 at the top spot in the rotation, and 3-1 record in league play.
Klevisar has a 6-6 record in doubles with partner Ayu Ishibashi.
Ishibashi is 8-6 in singles after a convincing win in straight sets last match, including a 6-3 record at the No. 2 spot.
Dorota Szczygielska is 12-5 in doubles. Szczygielska has been paired with Renske Ubachs for the majority of the season going 10-5 and playing on all three courts.
Sofi Garcia has been paired with Szczygielska for the last two matches. They are undefeated at No. 3 doubles.
Playing at the No. 3 singles spot, Paige Wise is 8-4 on the season in singles and 3-1 in conference, including a convincing triumph in straight sets last time out against McNeese.
Sofi Garcia is 8-7 in singles and 9-5 in doubles playing with multiple partners.
The Lady Demons are 31-9 on the series against the Colonels since the rivalry started back in 1977.
Nicholls (9-12, 1-4 SLC) enters the match after coming off a 4-1 loss against Jackson State.
Simona Makaimovic scored the only point for Nicholls against Jackson State at the top of the lineup.
Carla Bouygues is 12-7 in singles on the season, playing predominately at No. 5.
Following the match, the Lady Demons continue their stretch at home to conclude the season with the rescheduled match against New Orleans on Tuesday.
