It was the second consecutive defeat and fifth conference defeat for UNO (8-8, 1-5 SLC). The previous match came by the slimmest of margins to Southeastern Louisiana.

"Great team win today for the Lady Demons," said head coach Jonas Brobeck. "We are really excited to see that things are coming together at the right time of the season."

Dorota Szczygielska and Sofi Garcia took the doubles point for NSU with a 6-3 win against Anastassia Kouchanareva and Ksenia Reznitskaya.

At doubles spot No. 1, Tjasa Klevisar and Ishibashi jumped to a fast start with a 6-3 win against Tristanne Dechoux and Laurie Barendse.

Paige Wise and Mariella Minetti went down 6-3 on No. 2 to tie for the doubles point 1-1 before Szczygielska and Garcia came through to earn the point.

"Doubles always set the tone for singles, and same things today," Brobeck said. "Everyone did a great job following the game plan, competing hard, and playing smart. When we do that, we are very hard to beat!"

With the doubles point in hand, the Lady Demons went to work in singles, winning four in straight sets and the final two in three-set thrillers.

Garcia was the first NSU player to wrap up her contest, coming away with a convincing 6-3, 6-1, victory to put the Lady Demons up 2-0.
