NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Northwestern State tennis team was unable to overcome a strong Stephen F. Austin squad Sunday morning, as the Ladyjacks downed the Lady Demons 4-1. 
 

NSU (6-4) fell in a number of close decisions against Stephen F. Austin, which proved to be the difference. 
 

Tjasa Klevisar picked up the only point for the Lady Demons in singles at the top spot against Alkmini Giannakogiorgu, winning 6-2, 6-3. 
 

This is Klevisar's team-best seventh win in singles. 
 

SFA (6-5) has won four in a row, with NSU being the second Southland Conference opponent beaten during the stretch. 

"Congratulations to SFA," said head coach Jonas Brobeck. "They played to win in important parts of the match. There are some positives that we will build off and some things we need to clean up in doubles moving forward."
 

The Ladyjacks began the day winning two of the three close doubles matches to win the point. SFA won 7-5 at No. 1 when the pairing of Alkmini Giannakogiorgu and Jemma Cave came out on top against Klevisar and Mariella Minetti. 
 

The clincher came at doubles position No. 3 in a tiebreaker, as SFA's Elena Bleicher and Ksenia Mamontova knocked off Sofia Garcia and Gig Kanaphuet 7-6 to clinch the doubles point for the Ladyjacks. 
 

SFA won at singles positions Nos. 2, 4 and 5 to earn the home team the victory, as the teams played to clinch. 
 

Mamontova won her singles match at No. 2 in straight sets, but NSU's Sofi Garcia didn't make it easy. Mamontova came away with a 6-4, 7-5, victory. 
 

Dorota Szczygielska at No. 5 dropped the first set 6-2 against Felicia Black, before coming back 6-4 and forcing a third. Szczygielska ultimately fell to Black 6-2. 
 

Jemma Cave won her match at No. 5 for SFA against Renske Ubachs 6-2, 6-3. 
 

Minetti's and Wise's matches went unfinished. 
 

NSU returns to competition March 14 at 2 p.m. against NJIT at Jack Fisher Tennis Complex.
