NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Northwestern State tennis team picked up four wins in singles to secure a tight 4-3 match victory against Oral Roberts on Saturday afternoon at the Schlief Tennis Center. 
 

Tjasa Kleviasr picked up her sixth win in singles at the top spot in the rotation against Sasha Lebedeva 6-2, 6-4, leading the way for the Lady Demons. 
 

Dorota Szczygielska picked up her fifth win in singles. 
 

Szczygielska dropped the first set against Arina Sorokina 2-6 before coming back in the second 6-2 and forcing a third and defeating Sorokina 6-4 to come away with a crucial point for NSU. 
 

Sofi Garcia and Paige Wise emerged with big victories at the Nos. 2 and 3 singles spots, respectively. Garcia claimed a close triumph against Chara Grammatikaki, winning 6-3 in the first set before finishing off the match with a close 7-5 second set win. 
 

Wise controlled the match at No. 3 singles, triumphing against Luna Morini 6-2, 6-1. 
 

The Lady Demons dropped the doubles point, but came back to win the match thanks to the singles performances. It was the second match this season (UL Monroe, the other) that NSU came back to win after losing the doubles point. 
 

"We were playing 'not to lose' in doubles and it affected the outcome, and start of singles in some spots," said head coach Jonas Brobeck. "The top of our lineup did a great job of competing on our own terms today." 
 

"The key in college tennis is to have 3 doubles and 6 singles competing and doing the right thing from start to finish," said Brobeck. "New opportunity tomorrow against SFA to do just that." 
 

The Lady Demons have a tight turnaround as they play Stephen F. Austin on Sunday at 11 a.m. SFA has won its past three matches. 
 

Coming into this match NSU is winning the series 28-14. They last met in 2022 were NSU grabbed the victory 5-2 over the Ladyjacks.
