CONWAY, Ark.—The doubles pairing of
Gig Kanaphuet and
Renske Ubachs reached the final of their draw, highlighting the second day for the Northwestern State women's tennis team at the UCA Invitational on Saturday on the campus of Central Arkansas.
Kanaphuet and Ubachs earned a victory in the second round over the Southeastern Louisiana pairing of Gabrielle Dekkers and Polina Paunova 6-2 before falling in a tight match in the final to Louisiana Tech.
Dorota Szczygielska had a valiant effort, even in defeat, to Reagan Miley of Oral Roberts. She lost 6-3 in the first set before losing in a tight second set 7-5.
Ubachs dropped a tough match as well, falling in a competitive first set 6-4 before dropping the second set 6-2.
The Lady Demons next head to Baton Rouge for the ITA Regional, beginning Oct. 13.
