DALLAS—A trio of Northwestern State tennis players won their matches on the final day of the SMU Red and Blue Challenge Sunday.
They played singles matches against Central Arkansas to conclude the challenge in Dallas.
"By and large, we played well this weekend," head coach
Patric DuBois said. "We learned more about ourselves and each other heading into practice this week."
After losing her first fall match Saturday, freshman
Olivia Alfredsson rebounded with a win in straight sets against Anna Hosking, 7-5, 6-4.
After not playing singles on Saturday,
Patrycja Polanska also won in straight sets against Paulina Engback 7-5, 6-2.
Judit Castillo Gargallo defeated Mei Ishimura after Ishimura retired. Castillo Gargallo won the first set 6-1, and was behind 2-1 in the second set when Ishimura had to retire from the match.
Minetti was impressive once again, even in defeat. She fell in a pro-set to Fuka Nonoyama, who played at No. 2 the entire conference season last year for the Sugar Bears.
The Lady Demons head to Baton Rouge for the ITA Regional on Oct. 17.
