"We had a good process in doubles and carried that momentum into singles," head coach
Olga Bazhanova said.
The Lady Demons momentum from doubles to singles showed as they won the first set in five of the six singles matches. Vardanian and freshman
Judit Castillo pushed the Lady Demon lead to 3-0 with a pair of straight-set wins in positions two and six, respectively.
Texas State bounced back and took a point on court four as Dancetovic fell to Perez 7-6, 6-3. The Bobcat rally continued on courts one, three and five where they forced a third set on each.
Ivanova shut down the rally and any hope of a comeback with a 6-2, 6-7, 6-2 win on court one to clinch the fourth point for NSU.
"We didn't stay consistent with our process in singles today, but I am happy that the team found a way to win," Bazhanova said. "The girls competed hard and we are looking forward to doing the same tomorrow."
The match was played out past the clinch and both teams took one more point each to make the final score 5-2.
The Lady Demons will make the hour trip to Texas San Antonio on Sunday to face the Roadrunners who are 3-1 on the season.
