TULSA, Okla. – A complete 7-0 sweep over Southland Conference foe Oral Roberts gave the Northwestern State tennis team its fifth win in a row and the first of the league season at Case Tennis Center Saturday morning.
 
The Lady Demons improve to 7-3 overall, 1-0 in the Southland as the Golden Eagles drop to 1-3, 0-2.
 
"We played very well today in all positions," said head coach Patric DuBois. "We worked hard on our doubles all week, and the girls performed at a high level in terms of process and execution. Polina and Tatiana played aggressive and moved well in doubles, which is what they need to do to be a top team in the Southland Conference."
 
"I felt all the girls were aggressively consistent in singles. They hit big targets when in charge, and played smart defense when they needed to. This is the style we need to play to compete at the high level we're capable of."
 
Polina Konop and Tatiana Larina combined at No. 1 singles for an 8-0 shutout of Marizanne Bouwer and Melanie Marlin, followed by Aliona Ladutska and Daniela Simonova taking third doubles over Nika Munoz and Mairead Cleary, 8-3.
 
Natalya Krutova and Kateryna Piatakova trailed Haley Martin and Ximena Puentes 2-7 at No. 2 as the Lady Demons picked up the doubles point, leaving the set unfinished.
 
Northwestern State ran away with the win in singles play, claiming all six positions. Konop and Larina took the No. 1 and No. 2 slots, 6-4, 6-2 and 6-4, 6-1, respectively.
 
At third and sixth singles, Krutova and Simonova shutout Marlin and Munoz, both with scores of 6-0, 6-0.
 
Ladutska gave up just two games at No. 4 singles, dominating over Puentes, 6-0, 6-2, while Piatakova notched the win in the fifth slot, 6-1, 6-2 over Cleary.
 
The Lady Demons head to Conway, Ark., on Sunday for duals with Central Arkansas at 10:00 and Arkansas Tech at two o'clock.
