TULSA, Okla. – The Northwestern State tennis team hits the road on Saturday to defend its 2013 Southland Conference Tournament championship crown at league foe Oral Roberts, beginning at 11:00, and will continue on for matches with Central Arkansas and Arkansas Tech in Conway, Ark., on Sunday at ten o'clock and 2:00, respectively.
The Lady Demons (6-3 overall, 0-0 SLC) have won four in a row, all at home, registering dual victories over Texas State, Prairie View A&M, UTSA and Louisiana-Lafayette.
The Golden Eagles (1-2) have competed in just three matches on the season, picking up one win over Grambling on Feb. 1.
UCA holds a 6-3 mark, winning five of its last six, the most recent in a 6-1 domination over Northeastern State.
NSU sits tied with Oral Roberts 1-1 in the all-time series, and holds a 7-0 advantage over UCA. The Lady Demons defeated both programs 7-0 in 2013.
The Golden Suns (5-1) have also won four in a row, and will face NSU for the first time in program history.
Northwestern State returns home to hosts conference newcomer Incarnate word on March 15 and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi the following day, both set to begin at 11:00 at the Jack Fisher Tennis Complex.
