NATCHITOCHES – Due to inclement weather, the Southland Conference softball tournament contest between Northwestern State and Sam Houston State has been delayed until Friday at 9:00 pending weather.
The Lady Demons currently lead the Bearkats 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Brianna Rodriguez rocked her 19th double of the season in the bottom of the first to get in position for Cassandra Barefield to send one down the left field line and give her the chance to score.
Rodriguez now takes sole possession of second place in the individual season record book at NSU in doubles, just three-shy of Brandy Kenney's 1998 record of 22 doubles in a single season.
Barefield currently leads the Lady Demons, going one-for-one at the plate. Alyssa Coggins leads the Bearkats posting a two-for-two performance.
Play will resume in the bottom of the fourth inning.
There will be free admission to tomorrow morning's NSU vs. SHSU game, but the stadium will be cleared before the start of Friday's regularly scheduled games. Fans must present a pass for Friday's games or an all-tournament pass to receive admission.
Tickets can be purchased at the ticket booth at the front gate of the Lady Demon softball complex.
