NATCHITOCHES – The Northwestern State softball team will meet up with Louisiana Tech for the sixth time this season in non-conference action on Wednesday at six o'clock at the Lady Demon Diamond.

The Lady Demons (28-9 overall, 9-5 SLC) currently lead 3-2 in the non-conference rivalry, falling 8-0 to the Lady Techsters (19-17 overall, 5-4 WAC) in their most recent meeting.

Kylie Roos (10-2) threw a pair of shutouts this past weekend for a series win over Central Arkansas to garner Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week honors. Roos led the Lady Demons to their fourth conference series win of the season to take sole possession of the number two slot in league play.

UCA was held to just seven hits and a .114 average against the right-hander. The scoreless performance against Roos allowed her to post a perfect 0.00 ERA on the week, and improve to a 1.24 ERA overall.

Junior Brianna Rodriguez leads from the plate with a .370 average and ties Cassandra Barefield with 30 RBIs each this season. Rodriguez currently leads the conference with 14 doubles and ranks 11th in the nation with .38 doubles per game, while Barefield sits at the top of the SLC home run column with 10.

Trailing Rodriguez, Tara McKenney posts 49 hits in 133 at-bats for a .368 average. McKenney leads the team with five triples, also a conference category leader alongside Houston Baptist's Lauren Schwirtlich.

The Lady Techsters dropped a pair of games to Texas State over the weekend.

Melanie Goff displays a .403 average and 25 RBIs to lead from the plate, followed by Kristen Miles posting a .380 average and leads the team with 41 hits.

Michelle Jones (10-8) has thrown 103.1 innings in the circle, striking out 78 and allowing 94 hits this season.

The Lady Demons will resume conference play on Saturday as they travel to SLC rival Stephen F. Austin for a three game series beginning at 1:00. NSU returns home the following Saturday to host conference newcomer Houston Baptist, also at one o'clock.
