Series finale with SLU cancelled due to inclement weather

HAMMOND – The Northwestern State softball series finale with Southeastern Louisiana regularly scheduled for Sunday at 12:00 has been cancelled due to inclement weather and poor field conditions.
 
The Lady Demons (35-11 overall, 16-6 in the Southland Conference) split a pair of games with the Lady Lions (30-18 overall, 12-11 SLC) on Saturday. SLU took game one 3-2 and NSU came back with a 4-1 victory in game two.
 
Junior Brianna Rodriguez led from the plate with four RBI as she went three-for-six on the day, followed by Tara McKenney posting a three-for-four performance and Cali Burke going five-for-seven.
 
Kaylee Guidry (11-3) earned the win in game two. Brooke Boening came in in relief of Guidry late in the fourth and was credited with her first save of the season.
 
Senior Kylie Roos (13-3) suffered her third loss of the season in the 3-2 defeat.
 
The Lady Demons travel to No. 12 LSU on Tuesday for a single game beginning at six o'clock and return home on Saturday for the regular season series finale with Sam Houston State. Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 1:00 at the Lady Demon Diamond.
