NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State placed four student-athletes on the 2026 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, the organization announced on Monday.

Senior second baseman Britt Bourgoyne, junior pitcher Mattison Buster and catcher Sister Arnold and sophomore utility player Brynn Daniel all earned their first CSC All-District honors as Demons in 2026. The four selections match NSU with East Texas A&M for the most by a Southland Conference team this season.

Carrying a 4.0 through the end of her sophomore season, Daniel, a communications major, also put together one of the best seasons on the field by a Demon in the past 25 years.

Behind a keen eye at the plate, Daniel set the NSU single-season record for on-base percentage at .508, the first Demon to finish the season with an OBP over .500 and one of just two players in the Southland Conference to do so.

She led the team with a .380 batting average, the sixth highest in program history, with an OPS over 1.000 and became the ninth player in the past 25 year to score 30 runs, have 50 hits and drive in 30 RBI in the same season.

Daniel earned a first-team all-conference utility selection, the first postseason honor of her career

Bourgoyne, a defensive standout, started all 53 games at second in her lone season as a Demon. She committed just five errors in SLC action on more than 115 total chances while recording the most assists by a second baseman with 58.

Overall, she produced the second most assists by a second baseman in the Southland with 110 and the second most by any NSU player in a season since 2014.

At the plate she hit .242 for the season with five doubles, scored 15 runs and stole nine bases. Bourgoyne maintained a 3.64 GPA in the classroom as a kinesiology major.

NSU's primary battery through conference play, Buster an Arnold, each earned spots on the CSC All-District Team with 3.75 (Buster) and 3.65 (Arnold) GPAs respectively.

Buster turned in one of the most impressive seasons by an NSU pitcher in more than 20 years on her way to a Southland Conference Newcomer of the Year award and first-team all-conference selection.

She tied the NSU single-season record with 21 wins, one of 12 pitchers to finish the regular season with 20 or more wins. She threw more than 200 innings on the season, 22 complete games and six shutouts, all top 10 single-season marks in the NSU record book.

Her 116 strikeouts led the conference and were the third most by an NSU pitcher since 2019.

Her catcher through much of the season and the bulk of conference action, Arnold was a .256 batter in her first year as a Demon producing six doubles a pair of home runs and driving in 20.

With one of the best eyes for the strike zone on the team, Arnold was one of three players to draw more than 20 walks this year, finishing with 25, leading to a .405 on-base percentage.

To qualify for Academic All-District, student-athletes must hold a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50, be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and appear in 90 percent of their team's games or start 66 percent of them.
