NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State softball picked up two more postseason honors on Tuesday with the announcement of the Louisiana Sports Writer's Association (LSWA) All-Louisiana Team.
Sophomore
Brynn Daniel earned a first-team utility spot to go along with her first-team all-conference honor.
Mattison Buster was named to the second team as a pitcher.
These are the first all-Louisiana honors for both players.
Daniel, one of the most dynamic offensive players for NSU this season, led the team with a .380 batting average and 1.001 OPS. She set the Demons' single-season record for on-base percentage at .508, the first player in program history to reach base in more than half of her plate appearances on the year.
She was also one of just two players in the Southland, alongside conference player of the year Victoria Altamirano from UIW, to end the season with an OBP over .500.
Daniel ranked in the top 10 in the Southland in batting average (.380), OBP (.508), walks (29) and HBP (10). Her 22 RBI and seven doubles during league play were also top 10 marks in the conference.
Her .380 season batting average was also the sixth highest single-season mark in program history.
The Bixby, Okla., native became the ninth player in the past 25 years of NSU softball to score 30 runs, have 50 hits and drive in 30 RBI in the same season. She was one of 13 players in the Southland to do that this year.
Daniel had three different reached base streaks of 10 games or longer this past year, including a season-long 15-game stretch during conference play, and had a hit in 14 of the final 16 games of the season.
Buster, the SLC Newcomer of the Year, earned a second-team spot in the pitching circle.
Her 210.0 innings pitched, 21 wins, 22 complete games and six shutouts were the most among all pitchers in the state of Louisiana in 2026.
She was the only SLC pitcher to throw a complete game shutout against McNeese this season and led the conference with 116 strikeouts. She was just the fifth SLC pitcher to win 20 games in a season over the past five years.
Produced a stretch of 19.2 consecutive scoreless innings during conference play and tied the NSU single-season record for wins and ranked in the top 10 in five other individual categories.
