SAN MARCOS, Texas – Distance runners Ali Fontenot and Aly Coughlin were the only Northwestern State track and field athletes to compete over the weekend as they took part in the Bobcat Classic on Saturday evening.
 
Both Lady Demons competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at Texas State, finishing third and sixth.
 
Fontenot, a senior, crossed the finish line in 11:53.74 while Coughlin clocked in at 12:20.52.
 
Fontenot, Coughlin and the rest of the NSU track and field teams head to Huntsville, Texas on Thursday to compete in the Sam Houston Twilight meet for their final competition before the Southland Conference Championships begin on May 10.
