NATCHITOCHES – Junior Polina Konop and freshman Natalya Krutova lead the Northwestern State women's tennis team as the Lady Demons prepare to host Sam Houston State on Friday at 12 p.m. at the Jack Fisher Tennis Complex.

NSU (7-5 overall, 2-1 Southland Conference) hopes to extend its two-match win streak to three while the Bearkats (4-7, 0-2) are looking for their first Southland win of the season.

The Lady Demons most recently defeated Oral Roberts 7-0 on Sunday; SHSU fell to No. 69 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 4-3 on Tuesday.

Konop and Krutova each have a team-best singles records of 10-2 at the No. 1-2 and No. 3 positions, respectively.

Tatiana Larina and Andrea Nedorostova set the pace for the Lady Demons in doubles action with a 10-2 record in the first position.

Nedorostova, a senior, has a career record of 64-9 in doubles competition and is on pace to becoming the winningest doubles player in NSU history. She is currently tied for third and needs just four more wins to take over the record set by Bianca Schulz from 2008-11.

The Brno, Czech Republic native also has an impressive career singles record of 55-17, which ranks sixth in the all-time wins ledger.  She is 9-3 this season at the No. 4 spot.

The Lady Demons go on the road next Friday to match up against rival Stephen F. Austin. Competition is set to begin at 11 a.m. at the Schlief Tennis Complex.
