HAMMOND – Junior Andrea Nedorostova lost only one game combined in singles and doubles Saturday to lead Northwestern State's 6-1 triumph at Southeastern Louisiana in Southland Conference women's tennis.
 
The Lady Demons wrap up the Southland regular season Sunday with a visit to Nicholls. Saturday's win moved Northwestern to 13-4 overall and 7-3 in the Southland, while SLU dipped to 9-11 overall and 1-9 in conference play.


Nedorostova and freshman Tatiana Larina won their No. 2 doubles contest 8-0, then Nedorostova put away her No. 4 singles match 6-0, 6-1.
 
NSU swept all three doubles positions, with freshmen Linda Gamo and Amy Williams scratching out an 8-6 victory at No. 3 over Morgane Charpenne and Morgane Dadot. Larina (6-2, 6-2 at No. 2), freshman Polina Konop (6-1, 6-3 at No. 3), Williams (6-4, 6-2 at No. 5) and Gamo (2-6, 7-5, 10-4 at No. 6) won for the Lady Demons in singles.
 
“This was a solid win today in tough, windy conditions against a fine Southeastern team. All of our players adapted well to the conditions and played smart in this wind,” said Lady Demons coach Patric DuBois. “It showed in the results.
 
“All three doubles lines had very good process, good communication with each other to pull out their victories. All of our singles played quite well against solid opponents.”
 
Senior captain Olga Bazhanova teamed with Konop to raise their No. 1 doubles record to 15-2 with an 8-2 decision. Bazhanova lost a tough 14-12 pro set to SLU's Audrey Chelini to decide the No. 1 singles match after they split sets, both winning 6-3.
 
Nedorostova/Larina moved to 14-3 in doubles this season, giving Nedorostova her 53^rd career doubles win in dual match play, breaking a tie with Jane Paterson for seventh on the Lady Demons' career doubles wins list.
