SAN MARCOS, Texas – Northwestern State and Texas State, two unbeatens early in the Southland Conference women's tennis race, collide Monday at 11 a.m. as senior captain Olga Bazhanova carries perfect singles and doubles marks into play for the Lady Demons.

Both teams were 2-0 in the Southland Conference, 6-1 overall, pending Texas State's home match Sunday against Central Arkansas (0-4 in the SLC). The NSU-Texas State match was slated for Saturday but was pushed back due to heavy rain and the forecast for more storms.

Bazhanova is 7-0 at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. Freshman Polina Konop is her doubles partner, and has a 6-1 record in singles, 3-1 at No. 3.

Junior Andrea Nedorostova and freshman Tatiana Larina are 6-1 in the second doubles position and each has a 5-2 singles record. Leesville freshman Amy Williams is 4-3 in singles, all at No. 5. Nedorostova is now playing in the fourth position and Larina has moved into the No. 2 slot.

NSU is 29-13 in singles, and 16-5 in doubles. The lady Demons have won their last five matches overall under interim head coach Patric DuBois.

Texas State coach Tory Plunkett was a two-time Gulf Star Conference champion while playing at Northwestern State (1985-86) and was named to the Gulf Star's All-Academic Team both seasons, before finishing her undergraduate career at TCU, where she became an All-American.

Next weekend, Northwestern plays a non-conference match at Arkansas State Friday, then visits UCA Saturday. The next home match for the Lady Demons is March 23 against Stephen F. Austin.
