FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas – Sam Roberts crushed her first home run of the year and recorded her second multi-hit game of the season, but her two hits alone weren't enough to defeat Tennessee State as the Tigers went on to win 4-1 in the first of two games Saturday at the Arkansas Fastpitch Invitational at Bogle Park.

The Lady Demons (2-11) were outhit by TSU (4-3) 9-2, as the Tigers scored a run in each of the first four frames. Kylie Roos (1-6) pitched two innings and recorded the loss, while Shea Morris (3-1) earned the win after going the distance and striking out eight.

Roberts' solo home run came in the second inning with one out. She later singled to lead off the seventh inning, but the Lady Demons just couldn't find their rhythm at the plate to advance her.

Brooke Boening pitched four innings of relief, allowing two runs on two hits and struck out four.

Candice Biggs and Cheyenne DeLaGarza both reached base safely via walk to extend their on-base streaks to three consecutive games. Brianna Rodriguez was hit by a pitch in the fourth inning to account for NSU's only other base runner.

The Tigers got on the board in their first at bat when Devin Amar hit a two-out single with a runner on second. They scored a second run in the next inning when a pair of singles sandwiched around a wild pitch. Their last two runs came on five singles in the third and fourth frames.

NSU will take the field again Saturday at 5 p.m. against the winner of Arkansas vs. Jackson State.
