HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Northwestern State posted six straight-set singles wins Sunday in a 7-0 women's tennis triumph at Southern Mississippi, with senior Olga Bazhanova staying unbeaten in No. 1 singles while newcomer Olga Leyshyna dropped only one game in her 6-0, 6-1 win in the sixth position.
 
Junior Andrea Nedorostova actually posted the fastest singles victory, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3, while freshman Polina Konop was close behind with her 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 4. Then freshman Tatiana Larina wrapped up her 6-1, 6-2 decision in the second position to wrap up the match outcome.

The Lady Demons opened the match by taking the doubles point with wins at Nos. 1-2. Bazhanova/Konop rolled 8-1 in the top position before Larina/Nedorostova completed an 8-5 win at No. 2.
 
NSU freshman Amy Williams recorded a No. 5 singles win by 6-4, 6-3 over Alex Bradley in the day's most competive singles contest. After three-setters won against Mississippi State and Houston, Bazhanova posted a 6-4, 6-2 triumph Sunday.
 
The Lady Demons rose to 2-1 with their third victory over USM (1-5) in four years.

"The top two doubles teams played the system we're supposed to play and executed well," said interim Lady Demon tennis coachy Patric DuBois. "We got the doubles point, which is always critical, then we played six pretty darned good singles maches. We love to play percentage tennis and we did on all six courts. It was a good day."
 
Northwestern will open its home season next weekend, playing host to Louisiana-Lafayette next Saturday afternoon at 1 and hosting Texas-Pan American next Sunday at 10 a.m. at the Jack Fisher Tennis Complex.
