Summary

Biography

Coach Dan Bell on Dillon: "We're changing Mark from the point guard to the off guard spot for two reasons. We believe Mark is the best shooter that's ever been in our program, and from the point, he's just too unselfish, so we're putting him in a position where he has to shoot. And we think defensively, it fits him better to go guard another team's No. 2 man rather than trying to go with a point guard end to end. He has a chance to be very good."

In 1991-92: He started 12 games at point guard, 10 in SLC season, and showed a good shooting eye (75% FTs, 44% 3s) along with ability to make clutch shots and key plays. Dillon had an excellent assists-turnover ratio (70-58). He hit 89% (16-18) of his FTs in SLC play. He scored 10 points (4-4 FGs, 2-2 FTs), had 3 assists and 4 steals in his first college game, the rout of Harding. He scored at least 10 points five times, with two highs of 13 in back-to-back Demon wins at home over UTA and Northeast, sinking 3 of 4 3-pointers in both games. Dillon scored 10 at UTSA, including a 3 from the deep right corner with two seconds left to force OT. He had 11 points in a win over SW Texas and 9 points, 8 in a pivotal 22-2 run, in a victory at Stephen F. Austin.

At Tolsia HS: The Class AA MVP as a senior, Dillon led his team to the West Virginia state title by averaging 18 points and 11 assists for Coach Dan Smith's 25-2 team. He was all-state as a junior under current Demon assistant coach Randy Anderson, averaging 22 points and 10 assists as Tolsia went 18-5. He averaged 13 points and 8 assist as a sophomore as Tolsia finished 15-10. One Charleston newspaper rated Dillon among the state's five best players and as one of three "on the rise" player to watch before his senior season. Dillon, a member of the Spanish Club and the Math Club at Tolsia, had a 3.2 gpa
