NATCHITOCHES—New women's basketball coach Alan Frey continues to add to his coaching staff with the hiring of former professional hooper Kolby Morgan, Frey announced Tuesday.

"We are incredibly fortunate to add Kolby Morgan to our coaching staff at Northwestern State," Frey said. "Having coached Kolby during her record-breaking career at Tulane, I have seen firsthand her elite work ethic and high basketball IQ.

"Her eight years playing professionally across Europe have only sharpened those instincts. Kolby knows exactly what it takes to perform at the highest level, and our student-athletes will benefit immensely from her mentorship and global perspective on the game."

Morgan, a New Orleans native, is fresh off a professional career, which began in 2018 following a sensational career at Tulane when Frey was an assistant. She competed professionally overseas in Switzerland, Greece, Turkey, Hungary, and France, and also attended two training camps for the WNBA's New York Liberty.

She won the Swiss Cup with MVP honors, as well as helped lead her team to a Greek Championship.

Coaching-wise, she assisted with coaching and led drills during high school practices, as well as participated in multiple Tulane Basketball camps and coached the U15 girls team in Switzerland.

As a player at Tulane, she was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame in 2024, where she is second in program history in career points with 2,240.

She earned all-conference recognition in all four seasons and earned multiple Louisiana Sports Writers Association All-Louisiana selections.

As a freshman, she helped lead the Green Wave to a 22-11 record and an NCAA Tournament appearance.

Morgan broke the 1,000 career point mark in less than two seasons with the Green Wave.

During her prep career at John Curtis High, she was a 2,000-point scorer with multiple all-city and all-state honors, helping lead her team to a high school state championship in 2012.
