LUBBOCK, Texas—A school record on day one is quite the start to the season.
Building on a sensational season last year as a freshman,
Will Achee posted an indoor school record, running a 46.84 in the men's 400-meter dash, highlighting day one at the Corky Classic to open the indoor track season Friday at the Sports Performance Center on the campus of Texas Tech.

"It was a mixed day," head coach
Mike Heimerman said. "We had some great performances, some good performances and some bad performances. The best of the day was by Will, setting a PR and an indoor school record. Desmond ran very well, also running a PR. They both executed their races perfectly.
"Eddy and the Beavers twins ran very well. They were not perfect races but great first and second races of the season. Abner (Johnson) had a good day as well, starting the year off with a PR."
Mikkel Johansson finished 23

"I will chalk it up to the excitement of the first meet, but we need to be smarter and better at this. We also had a lot of athletes that let their nerves get the best of them. That will change as we go to more meets.
"We have a big day two with a lot of events, so it will be a great day."
NSU is back for the second and final day of the Corky Classic on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the women's shot put.
