MOBILE, Alabama – The Northwestern State women's tennis team traveled to Mobile, Alabama, to play the South Alabama Jaguars. The Lady Demons (0-4) lost their fourth match of the season.
 
In her first match of the 2025 season, Senior Ayu Ishibashi picked up a win over USA's Cristina Tchanichev 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 6 spot.
 
NSU got the best of the Jaguars in doubles, winning two out of the three matches.
 
Zoi Spyrou and Pika Doberlet joined forces for the first time this season in a winning effort over USA's Lara van der Merwe and Jade Marie 6-3 at the No. 2 in doubles.
 
Ishibashi and teammate Honoka Umeda won their matchup at the No. 1 doubles against Delien Kleinhans and Rio Maeda 6-4.

Sophomore Maria Farina and Freshman Valeria Ortega lost their doubles match against the Jaguars Chems Doha Zeghlouli and Kenza Elakili at the No. 3 spot in doubles.
 
Ortega lost her singles match in the No. 5 spot to Jade Marie 6-0, 6-0.
 
Farina fell short playing at the No. 3 singles spot in a thrilling matchup against Lara van der Merwe 2-6, 7-6(9-7) 6-2.
 
Doberlet and USA's Kenza Elakili had a three-set battle at No. 4 spot, with Elakili winning 7-5, 3-6, 6-3.
 
Spyrou fell to Rio Maeda in the No. 2 singles spot, losing effort 6-3, 6-4.
 
Umeda's singles match in the No. 1 went unfinished as the Jaguars clinched the match.
 
The Lady Demons will return to the Jack Fisher Lady Demon Complex on Thursday, February 20, to host ULM in a 1:30 p.m. match.
