NATCHITOCHES — Northwestern State tennis hosts the Southland Conference Fall Masters this week at the Jack Fisher Tennis Complex. Four days of competition begin Wednesday. The Lady Demons are in both singles and doubles as they close the fall schedule on home courts.

"The girls are practicing hard," head coach Marcos Morelli states. "I am very happy with where we are right now. The process that each one of them are building is great."

In singles, senior Zoi Spyrou opens against Nicholls' Noemie Piquet in the first round. Spyrou has shown steady progress this fall, highlighted by a comeback win against Stephen F. Austin's Felicia Back at the Bearkat Invitational.

In doubles, Maria Farina and Honoka Umeda meet Nicholls' Aada Inna and Paulina Villegas in the first round. Umeda enters unbeaten this fall at 6-0 with a fall tournament championship. Farina adds experience and consistency with a 4-4 record.

"All three players are going to represent Northwestern State with excellence," says Morelli. "Having that demon character we strive here to have at Northwestern State from start to finish."

Northwestern State looks to build on momentum from recent tournaments, where the team posted multiple singles and doubles wins against conference opponents. The SLC Fall Masters offer another chance to measure progress before the spring dual season.

The SLC Fall Masters begin Wednesday morning and run through Saturday at the Jack Fisher Tennis Complex, with singles and doubles scheduled each day as the Lady Demons finish the fall at home.

"It's great to have the Southland Conference Fall Masters here at Natchitoches," says Morelli. "It's great exposure for our tennis team, for our city, and the surrounding areas."
