NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State's utility player extraordinaire, who played and started in five different positions during the 2024 season, earn All-Louisiana honors on Wednesday afternoon.
Taylor Williams put together a career senior season setting new season highs in 11 different offensive categories, including leading the team in batting average, runs scored and on-base percentage to earn a second-team utility spot on the LSWA All-Louisiana team.
This is the first statewide honor for Williams in her career and the third time in the past four seasons NSU has had a player earn a spot among the best softball players in the state of Louisiana.
Williams led the Demons with a .326 batting average for the season hitting out of the leadoff spot for the majority of the year. Her .410 on-base percentage was also a team-best leading to her crossing the plate 30 times on the season, the 10
th most of any player in the Southland Conference.
Over the final 11 games of the season, Williams totaled nine hits including a six-game hitting streak and hits in eight of nine to close the month of April.
She ranked fourth in the Southland in triples this season with four, tying her for the eighth most in a single season in NSU history. Her 12 total extra-base hits, including two home runs, on the year also gave her the second highest slugging percentage for the Demons at .468.
Williams set new career highs in her final season with NSU in batting average (.326), hits (46), runs (30), triples (4), home runs (2), RBI (18), slugging (.468), walks (21), on-base percentage (.410), sacrifice flys (3) and total bases (66).
She had the second-most multi-hit games on the team with 11, the third longest hitting streak of six games, and the longest reached base streak of 11 straight games, setting the mark over the final 11 games of her career.
Williams started 25 games at second base, 16 as the designated player, four in center field, one in left field and, for the first time in her career, played and started three games at first base.
