NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State head coach
Jenny Fuller picked up another junior college signee on Tuesday for her 2026 class.
Peyton Young, a middle infield and utility player, from Forney, Texas, will join the Demons as the second signee in the class from Weatherford College. She will join her Coyote teammate Hanna Bartles, who signed earlier this month, in Natchitoches prior to the 2026 season.
"We are really excited about the addition of Peyton to roster next year," Fuller said. "She is an experienced player at this level, and will bring a lot of energy. She hits from the left side of the plate and will make an immediate impact in our lineup.
"Peyton is a great student with great character, and we can't wait to see her in purple and white."
Young played her prep career at Rockwall-Heath HS and was a first-team all-district honoree both on and off the diamond.
In addition to having the top batting average on the team and the sixth most hits and seventh most RBIs, she was named to her school's A-B Honor Roll.
She played her club softball for the Bombers Gold Vasquez where she earned a pair of first-team all-tournament honors and the Glory Summer Shootout and Colorado Sparkler (Power Pool) on the travel ball scene.
Young spent her first collegiate season at Texas State where she appeared in nine games as a pinch hitter, driving in one run for the Bobcats during the 2024 season. She will play this coming season at Weatherford College before joining the Demons.
