Lady Demons doused by rain and Southeastern

Box Score LAKE CHARLES – Nearly four hours worth of rain and weather delays did not cool off the Southeastern bats in its 13-1 winner's bracket victory over Northwestern State late Wednesday evening.

For the second straight night, the Lady Demons spent a late night at the field after rain and lightning delayed their game. The three hour and 26 minute delay against the Lions came with one out in the bottom of the first inning.

Once the all clear was given, four-run innings in the first, second and third by Southeastern were more than enough to make a long day even longer for the Demons.

An RBI single brought in the game's first run, the second batter following the long delay, and after a passed ball allowed the second to score, a two-out, two-run home run to left field put the Lion up 4-0.

A pair of walks in the second came back to hurt the Demons on a two-run single for the first two in their four-run second. The Lions added on in the third with the big blow coming on a bases loaded triple off the wall in center field, driving in three of their five runs in the inning.

The Demons picked up their lone run of the game in the top of the third after Bailie Ragsdale drew her team-leading 31st walk of the season moving her into a tie for fifth-most in a single season in program history.

Taylor Williams lined a sharp single to left scoring Ragsdale from second after she advanced on a wild pitch.

The loss moves the Demons into an elimination game that was originally scheduled for Wednesday evening to 1:30 pm on Thursday afternoon against the No. 4 seed Lamar.
