Lady Demons set for match against Warhawks

MONROE, La. – Following a great weekend in Natchitoches, the Lady Demons are headed to UL-Monroe.
 
NSU (4-1) is set to travel to Louisiana-Monroe (2-6) for a Tuesday match at 1:00 p.m. at Heard Stadium in a match that was rescheduled from Feb. 11, changing locations from Natchitoches to Monroe.
 
"We are super excited to be playing against a very good ULM team," said head coach Jonas Brobeck
 
The Lady Demons are coming off a sweep of LSU-Shreveport on Feb. 19, winning 6-0 on two doubles courts and 6-0, 6-0 on four singles courts, while ULM is coming off a slim 4-3 victory on the road against Stephen F. Austin.
 
Dorota Szczygielska, having not played since the 2020-2021 season due to injury, is going into this match winner of four of her past five matches. She also 4-1 in doubles with her partner Renske Ubachs
 
In her most recent match against LSUS, Szczygielska and Ubachs won their doubles match 6-0. Before singles start Szczygielska was taken out of the lineup and Gig Kanaphuet moved in.
 
Kanaphuet defeated Carlota Alcalde of LSUS 6-0, 6-0.
 
Sophomore Tjasa Klevisar has found success this season as well, with wins in both stages of competition.
 
NSU is the third team from the Southland Conference that ULM is playing, falling in the first two in a pair of tight matches to New Orleans and Nicholls.
 
The Warhawks, winners of the last five meetings between the two programs, currently have a 26-13 overall edge against the Lady Demons. The last NSU win over ULM was a 4-3 decision back in 2010.
 
Alice Klinteby, a freshman, has had a successful start to her career for the Warhawks, winning her first four singles matches from the No. 3 spot in the rotation and has compiled a 4-1 record so far.
 
Klinteby and Alessandra Anghel have triumphed in two of their three finished doubles matches at the top spot in the doubles rotation.
 
Following the match, NSU heads to San Antonio for a pair of matches against UTSA (Saturday) and Texas State (Sunday). The Lady Demons return home next on March 14 when they host NJIT.
