NATCHITOCHES—The Northwestern State soccer team goes out of the country to receive its next commitment.

After bringing in eight to begin the 2024 signing class, head coach Ian Brophy added to his first full offseason recruiting class by announcing the addition of Canadian Ravina Sandhu.

Sandu, a native of Oakville, Ontario, Canada, has been a big part of Team Ontario, where she started and was named team captain.

Sandu, who has plays primarily in the midfield, was the leading goal scorer for Team Ontario in 2022 and led the team to a three-game series win against Quebec in 2023, where she was named player of the tournament.

"We are very excited for Ravina to come in and have an immediate impact as a creative midfielder," Brophy said. "Her technical ability and ability to set up our forwards and play that killer final pass is something not only our forwards but entire team will benefit from."

As a member of her club team, North Toronto Nitros SC, where she helped lead the team to an undefeated regular season and led them to the League One u19 finals in back-to-back seasons.

This year, she was also invited to try out for Canada's National Development Center.

NSU has had a successful track record with recruits from Canada, such as recent players Jalen Donaldson and April Trowbridge.

Donaldson's 12 assists are tied for the 10th most in program history, while Trowbridge ranks ninth in school history with 22 goals scored, despite only playing three seasons in Natchitoches.

The ninth recruit in this class for Brophy aims to make a major impact immediately as the Lady Demons aim to expand upon a conference tournament semifinal finish they recorded in 2023.
