NATCHITOCHES—If sweeping the two games this past weekend on the field wasn't enough, the Northwestern State soccer team also swept the Southland Conference weekly awards.

After big wins against rivals Lamar and Stephen F. Austin, Emily Gundin (SLC Offensive), Bonnie Miller (SLC Defensive) and Audrey Marfia (SLC Goalkeeper) all took home weekly awards, the league announced Tuesday.

It is the first time this season the Demons (5-5, 2-0) have swept the weekly awards since last October after a pair of shutout wins over UIW and McNeese late last year, and it is just the second time since the Demons have done that since the start of the 2023 season.

On the offensive side, Gundin was the engine for the NSU attack, recording two goals and an assist this past weekend.

She scored one in each game, and both came in gigantic spots.

Against Lamar, she had an impressive goal after a cross from Paige Baumgartner, and Gundin sent it home into the right corner in the second half to put the Demons on top in the 53^rd minute.

Down one in the second half at SFA, she headed home the game-tying goal after a corner from Kate Bouck in 73^rd minute before then sending in a perfect cross to Tiana Cruz for the game-winning goal in the win with five minutes left for her assist.

Gundin is tied for second in both goals (7) and assists (5) in the Southland and alone in second in points (19).

It is her second weekly award after also doing so last season after scoring two goals in a blowout victory at Mississippi Valley State.

The SLC Defensive Player of the Week, Miller was just as valuable offensively as defensively this past week.

Against the Ladyjacks on Sunday, Miller scored two huge goals, both of which were a high degree of difficulty.

Miller scored the first two goals for the Demons against SFA, both of which answered goals by the Ladyjacks. They were the first two goals in her Division I career.

Miller also had a strong night in the conference opener, as she helped lead a defense that posted a shutout in a 2-0 victory against Lamar.

Marfia posted her second career shutout in the win over Lamar, tying a season high with five saves, including some in crucial moments to preserve the victory and her first shutout of the season.

She followed that up with a performance against SFA in which she made big time saves at the end to earn the win. She made a huge save with minutes to go on a point-blank chance from the Ladyjacks to earn NSU another three points.

Marfia has made seven saves in league play this season.

It is the first weekly award for both Marfia and Miller.

Next up, the trio leads NSU into another difficult place to play when the Demons head to San Antonio for a game with UIW on Thursday.
