Rapid-fire scoring from Draguicevich lifts NSU past Nicholls

THIBODAUX – Another record -breaking evening from Northwestern State soccer's Olivia Draguicevich brought about victory for the Lady Demons on Friday, complimenting a multi-goal affair for the Lady Demon forward.

Draguicevich took control early, hauling in two goals for NSU (5-4-3, 5-1-1) in the 12th and 18th minutes. Her third match on the season with two goals or more resulted in a 2-0 victory over Nicholls (0-11, 0-7 SLC).

The opening goal occurred off an assist from senior defenseman Natalee Henry, marking her third assist of the season – the first of which was a similarly-scored goal served up to Draguicevich on Sept. 12 against Nicholls in Natchitoches.

Draguicevich's game-winning goal was assisted on by Nicole Henry, earning her first point of the season and and making Friday's match the in which Draguicevich has scored two goals within a six-minute span.

"Both goals tonight were served up really well from both the Henry twins, and Olivia did what she does with them," head coach Stuart Gore said. "We talk a lot about her scoring ability, which is something special, but those two had her back tonight without a doubt."

Claiming another spot in the NSU record books this season, Draguicevich's two-goal outing marked her eighth and ninth goals against conference opponents this season, clinching the all-time program record in the category.

Draguicevich's sixth career game-winning goal against Southland opponents ties the all-time record, leaving five more matches in league play to put her stamp on yet another.

On a quiet night for senior goalkeeper Acelya Aydogmus, the Southland Goalkeeper of the Year was called up to make a single save in the 62nd minute, cementing the shutout for NSU, her sixth shutout of the season and 21st of her NSU career.

The final leg of the Lady Demons' road trip takes them to Hammond, where they will face off against second-place Southeastern Louisiana on Sunday at 1 p.m.
