NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State's
Micah Larkins has been named the Southland Conference Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday.
The Princeton native clocked the third-fastest time in Southland history for both the 60 and 200 meters at the Pittsburg State Invitational. In the 60, he ran a 6.63, a mark that is good for fifth in the nation and first in the conference. Larkins is also ranked 33rd in the world in the 60. In the 200, Larkins clocked a 21.13 in the 200, which is ranked 19th nationally and also first in the conference.
This is the second time in as many weeks of competition that a NSU sprinter has taken the SLC Indoor Track Athlete of the week.
Amir James captured the season's first award on January 17th.
The Demons return to action at the LSU Bayou Bengal Invitational in Baton Rouge on Friday.
