COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M scored four of six goals in the second half as the Aggies topped Northwestern State 6-0 in Thursday's exhibition match.
Texas A&M's Kate Hajdu scored two of the second-half goals as four other Aggies contributed scores.
Cienna Arrieta assisted on the two first-half scores, one in the sixth minute and one in the 45
th minute.
NSU coach
George Van Linder said while he's disappointed in the score, some of the younger players progressed in a hostile environment.
"We are certainly disappointed in the score, but this was an exhibition in terms of a chance to see a lot of different players on the field," Van Linder said. "We had some good performances from younger players.
"They responded well under the big lights. Getting better doesn't always feel good and we know this will help us, but it's tough to swallow a result like this as competitive as we are."
NSU junior
Jasmine Juarez took the team's lone shot in the closing minutes. The Aggies attempted 40 shots.
Senior goalkeeper
Alex Latham made nine saves in the first half, drawing compliments from the Texas A&M radio crew.
Redshirt freshman
Kayla Bomben played the second half, her first collegiate action of her career, and made seven saves.
NSU returns to action Saturday in an exhibition against Little Rock. The 1 p.m. contest will be played at Bossier City's Freedom Fields.
